About Jake

Jake Ephros is a proud teacher, union organizer, and democratic socialist in Jersey City Heights. A longtime activist, Jake led Jersey City’s Right To Counsel campaign, which won guaranteed legal representation for tenants in housing court. He fought alongside union nurses and nursing home workers with 1199SEIU to win better contracts and has been active in immigration justice work in Hudson County. He's also organized locally for a ceasefire in Gaza and for expanded rights for non-citizen neighbors.

Jake is running for city council in Ward D, independent from corporate developer money and any mayoral slate. He’s fighting for universal rent control, universal childcare and safe, clean, green streets for the residents of Jersey City.
